We realised that we really needed an AI tool to help us manage the number of contracts we deal with every year.

At TotalEnergies, we deal with around 1,700 contracts per year, around 30% of which are NDAs. We started to think that we needed to find a solution that would help us negotiate more quickly and save time, allowing lawyers to focus on more important tasks.

The main difference between Luminance and the other tools, I would say, is the visual impact it has for lawyers.

When we are inside the tool, it uses a range of colours—red, green and yellow—which really helps lawyers pay attention and see what is not aligned with the company’s standard.

It helps us save time when reading contracts. I would also mention the auto-markup feature, which is a really big advantage of the tool. The tool does the work for us, and we just have to read and approve it.

It is quite amazing. I hope that Luminance will help us decrease the time we spend negotiating and reviewing contracts through its amazing I-Negotiate feature.

During the proof of value we carried out, we saw that we could complete contract reviews up to twice as quickly as a normal manual review.

We would also like to reduce the mistakes that lawyers can sometimes make when performing repetitive tasks, and create greater consistency across all our contracts.

I am totally convinced that Luminance will help us change our way of working, make us more efficient and encourage us to think differently.

When we tried Luminance for the first time, we saw that it also helped us think outside the box. It sometimes highlights things that we cannot see because we are focused on our daily routines. Sometimes we are tired and can forget things.
