Why a Proof of Value Matters: Letting AI Speak for Itself
I’ve been a Product Specialist here at Luminance for nearly two years, working closely with organizations as they put our technology to the test during the buying process. In today’s noisy AI landscape, a trial is essential. That’s why we offer anyone a Proof of Value (POV), giving teams the opportunity to see firsthand how AI can transform their contract activity. Here are my tips for getting the most out of your trial and what to look out for when selecting a solution…
What is a POV?
A POV, also known as a Proof of Concept (POC), is a two-week free trial that allows organizations to test Luminance’s Legal-Grade™ AI on their own documents, in their own real-world scenarios.
As the name suggests, it’s designed to demonstrate the true value of our technology – not in a curated demo environment, but directly within your day-to-day work. It’s the best way to understand how Luminance’s end-to-end platform can drive efficiency and unlock new levels on insight across your contract lifecycle.
Why does Luminance offer a POV?
The legal AI market has never been more crowded, making it increasingly difficult for buyers to cut through the noise and identify what will actually deliver measurable value. That’s why we believe the best way to evaluate AI is simply to use it and see the results for yourself!
A POV allows teams to see our technology working out of the box from day one, delivering instant insights and real automation from the moment documents are uploaded. No lengthy setup, no extensive playbooks, just genuine, demonstrable value.
How can teams get the most out of their trial?
The key to a successful POV is choosing a scope that mirrors real, current work. Pick examples that represent the challenges your team faces today, whether that’s reviewing third-party paper, analysing executed agreements, comparing versions, or managing high-volume workflows.
The closer the scenario is to real-world use, the more immediate and tangible the ROI will be. If Luminance can remove hours of manual work or surface crucial insights during the trial, you’ll know exactly what it can achieve at scale.
What should users be looking out for during a trial?
A polished demo can make any platform look impressive. What you need to see is how the tech behaves when you’re the one in control.
Here’s what to pay attention to:
- Ease of use: Can you get value immediately, without heavy configuration?
- AI functionality: Are you seeing true AI at work? Or is it just basic automation?
- Quality of support: The attention and commitment you receive during the POV is a useful indicator of what to expect in terms of support. Interrogate how issues are handled long-term, who you’ll be working with and how frequently – you need a partner whose post-sales approach is as solid and reliable as their trial experience.
- Implementation visibility: A trial should mirror what rollout looks like. If a tool needs months of training or custom playbooks before it becomes useful, that’s a red flag.
- Speed to value: Our POVs run for two weeks because that’s genuinely all the time you need to see the impact of Luminance. If a vendor needs months to show value, ask why.
Above all, a provider should be willing to let you get hands-on. If not, that tells you everything you need to know.
What kinds of results have you seen from POVs?
The value achieved in just two weeks can be extraordinary. One of the best parts of my role is watching teams realize the power of AI in action. Here are just some of the incredible results we’ve seen recently – all from the trial alone:
- Luminance surfaced a previously unnoticed 2% early-payment discount hidden in supplier contracts, saving millions in moments!
- For an M&A report, Luminance identified ongoing litigation relating to a target company on day one, a discovery which held significant financial implications.
- Someone who hosts an annual event simply wanted to align this year’s contract with last year’s terms. Luminance completed the comparison, surfaced all differences, and amended the agreement in moments.
These aren’t edge cases, they are everyday examples of what Legal-Grade™ AI can do when it’s applied directly to your organization’s workload.
But my point still stands; don’t just take my word for it… Get in touch today to get your hands on the tech and see Luminance in action for yourself!
