Before joining Luminance, I worked as a Product Engineer at a global management consulting firm. I gained valuable problem-solving skills and an eye for innovation, which seamlessly translates to my current position at Luminance. What drew me most to Luminance was its impressive growth trajectory – we’ve more than doubled in size since I joined! I knew I wanted to work somewhere dynamic and fast-paced where I would have a flexible career path, and Luminance seemed like the perfect fit for me.

Joining the company as a Product Specialist, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some of the world’s largest organizations to trial and implement Luminance, demonstrating the value of our technology to solve a wide range of business issues. A year on, I am thrilled to be on secondment in our New York office , working as Team Lead, managing a group of 11 talented Product Specialists as we continue to expand our presence here in the US.

9am

With a coffee in hand, I kick off my day by organizing all of my meetings and checking in with my colleagues to align on the day’s agenda. Product Specialists work closely with a number of different teams here at Luminance from Sales and Support to Product and Operations, so clear communication is key to ensure everyone is on the same page ahead of important client calls.

10am

My first meeting of the day is with a world-leading pharmaceutical company. At Luminance, we offer a 2-week free “proof of value” trial of the platform and as a Product Specialist it’s our job to lead these calls, tailoring demonstrations to address a client’s specific needs. This company has a very interesting use case dealing with clinical trial contract and document review, with a range of industry-specific clauses. I decide to focus on Definition Learning - a powerful product feature which allows users to train Luminance’s AI with natural language to learn new clause types and instantly extract these across an entire contract database. This feature will expedite contract review for the company’s legal team, translating to major time-savings.

Every week our Product Specialist Director gathers the entire team to show some exciting product updates. With our team spread out across the globe, it’s great to catch-up with everyone and get a first look at the cutting-edge developments our R&D team in Cambridge are working on.

Finally time for lunch! Working in the Rockefeller Centre in the heart of New York, the team heads down to the cafeteria offering a culinary variety that never fails to surprise. It’s a refreshing break and a chance to unwind with the team amidst the vibrant atmosphere of NYC.

I kick-off the afternoon with a mid-POV call with a major financial services company half-way through their trial. Working so closely with prospective clients during their POV, it’s a great chance to check in on how they are finding Luminance. This client is interested in Luminance’s reporting functionalities working with specific credit agreements, and it’s encouraging to see the value this is bringing them. I make notes to pass along important feedback about what they want to see – it’s a great chance to help build the roadmap and be directly involved in product improvements.

3pm

Since taking over as Team Lead in our New York office, I like to hold 2-3 training sessions with my team each week. With all of us working of different POVs, it’s important to set up some time to speak through new use cases and bounce ideas back and forth. Today I’m holding a “spotlight questions” session, giving the team a chance to tell us about difficult queries during the week, and for others to propose solutions, a great learning opportunity for everyone.

4pm

Tomorrow I’m travelling for a POV, so I finish the day organizing my schedule and preparing for workshops I’ll be running. POV preparation is the most important task any Product Specialist has, deep diving into the dataset uploaded into Luminance and stepping into the shoes of a lawyer to understand what Luminance needs to do to optimize their processes. With constant product updates, new features and evolving regulations, no POV is the same, and no day is like another!

6pm

I close my laptop and head out for drinks at the local bar with the team before heading home to pack for my travels.
