Luminance in 70% of European countries with signing of Romanian firm

4 September 2020 |

Luminance, the leading artificial intelligence platform for the legal profession, announced today that its next-generation machine learning technology is being used by law firms and organisations in 70% of European countries. With significant growth in the region, Luminance welcomes its first Romanian customer, innovative award-winning law firm MPR Partners, who will accelerate and expand their legal service offering with the adoption of Luminance’s ‘Diligence’ platform.

The leading Romanian law firm opted to deploy Luminance after completing an analysis of nearly 700 documents. By combining both supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms, Luminance is able to actively read and form an understanding of documents in any language. As a result, MPR Partners were able to gain an instant and unparalleled overview of their document set, with the platform instantly surfacing crucial information like key datapoints, clauses, patterns, anomalies and even hidden risks. The legal team were most impressed with how quick and it easy it was to add new concepts to Luminance’s understanding of the data set - for instance, when a lawyer tagged just one ‘Authorization Tax’ clause in Romanian, Luminance tracked this learning throughout the dataset to instantly surface 95 similar examples, a task that would have taken days using manual review methods. This allowed MPR Partners to achieve an impressive 53% time saving within their first use of Luminance.

MPR Partners are now looking to deploy Luminance to support a wide array of projects. As an inherently flexible and scalable tool, Luminance can be used to assist lawyers in a range of practice areas including LIBOR reviews, real estate reviews, pre- and post-acquisition M&A due diligence and helping lawyers to achieve compliance with data protection regulations.

Alina Popescu, Founding Partner at the firm, adds: “Luminance allows us to offer new products and services to our clients which previously would not have been as cost-effective, or even feasible, by relying on manual review methods alone. Luminance allows us to save precious time and gain valuable insights concerning large volumes of documents, whilst at the same time ensuring that we continue to deliver high-quality, insightful legal advice.”

Jason Brennan, Luminance’s acting CEO, comments: “Because Luminance is a language-agnostic platform, we are seeing its adoption globally as firms look to stay ahead of the curve and drive innovation in their legal services. We are thrilled to be working with such a forward-looking law firm like MPR Partners.”

Luminance’s pioneering machine learning solution is is now used by over 250 law firms and organisations from over 50 countries worldwide.
