Bookbinder Business Law Become First Botswana Law Firm to Adopt Luminance’s AI

12 May 2022 |

12 May 2022 | Bookbinder Business Law (‘Bookbinder’) has become the first Botswana law firm to adopt Luminance’s world-leading legal process automation tool to expedite a range of contract review projects including due diligence exercises and property lease reviews.

Having previously relied on manual methods of document review, Bookbinder needed next-generation technology to enable the firm to take on larger contract review exercises and additional projects within the same time frame and with the same resources. With expertise in cross-border, multi-lingual matters, the firm chose to adopt Luminance’s language agnostic platform, which uses advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) to read and form a conceptual understanding of documents - working out-of-the-box to recognise a range of clauses and highlight key information to expedite a vast range of contract review projects. These range from Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) due diligence and lease reviews, to ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, contract consolidation exercises and repapering.

The full service corporate and commercial firm now plans to roll Luminance out across multiple practice areas, with a particular focus on using the technology to analyse key legal documents in due diligence exercises such as insurance documents, finance agreements and employment contracts.

Jeffrey Bookbinder, Founding Partner of Bookbinder Business Law, said: “In a crowded legal technology market, Luminance’s technology stood out for its ease-of-use, instant deployment and powerful AI which will enable our lawyers to complete quick, efficient and thorough document reviews. With Luminance, we can reduce the time our lawyers spend on manual document review and get to the all-important information quicker, giving our clients a competitive advantage in the process.”

Eleanor Weaver, CEO of Luminance, added “I am delighted to welcome our first Botswana customer to the Luminance roster as we continue to expand the global reach of our technology. Luminance’s AI is transforming legal processes for law firms and organisations working in more than 80 languages, and I look forward to seeing the value it will deliver for Bookbinder.”

Luminance is currently trusted by over 400 organisations in 60 countries worldwide, including all of the Big Four consultancy firms, a quarter of the world’s largest law firms and in-house teams from leading organisations such as UK supermarket, Tesco, and global confectionary company, Ferrero.
