Leading Colombian Law Firm, Gómez-Pinzón, Adopts Luminance for AI-Powered eDiscovery

30 August 2022 |

30 August | One of Colombia’s largest law firms, Gómez-Pinzón, has announced its adoption of Luminance’s AI-powered eDiscovery tool to enhance a range of matters across the Bogotá-headquartered practice, including investigations, arbitration and litigation projects.

Gómez-Pinzón provides expert legal services to clients across a wide range of practice areas, from corporate and competition law to conflict resolution and pro-bono matters. Faced with increasing volumes of documents and digital evidence to review during the litigation process, Gómez-Pinzón sought a next-generation technology that would deliver rapid and comprehensive insight into even the largest of datasets. Aware of the potential of AI to revolutionise legal processes, having already deployed Luminance’s AI across several contract review projects, Gómez-Pinzón opted to use Luminance’s eDiscovery platform to optimise the delivery of their legal services.

Having previously conducted large-scale investigations via manual review methods alone, Gómez-Pinzón is now able to cut through high-volume datasets with Luminance’s AI-powered Early Case Assessment and Technology Assisted Review functionalities, which cull irrelevant information to help identify key communications and documents of interest within the early stages of any review. Critical to Gómez-Pinzón’s adoption of Luminance has been the technology’s unique combination of supervised and unsupervised machine learning, which allows the AI to form an understanding of any volume or type of documentation. Most recently, Gómez-Pinzón was able to analyse nearly 90,000 emails with Luminance during an IP investigation, achieving 80% time-savings and 60% cost-savings on the project.

Fabian Urriago Guzmán, Knowledge Management Director at Gómez-Pinzón, commented: “When it comes to the analysis of large amounts of information, thanks to Luminance we have seen an incredible increase in our productivity and efficiency. With Luminance, we can now conduct investigations within much shorter timeframes, allowing our attorneys to focus their time on providing expert legal counsel to clients and to ultimately be redeployed on other projects for the firm.

Orianne Auger, Head of Discovery at Luminance, added: “I am delighted Gómez-Pinzón has adopted Luminance’s next-generation eDiscovery platform, adding to their existing use of Luminance across various contract review projects. We are very pleased to see that Gómez-Pinzón is already benefitting from Luminance’s cutting-edge, language-agnostic technology which will allow the firm to work seamlessly on their multilingual legal document sets during the course of any investigation.”

Luminance is trusted by over 500 organisations in 60 countries including all of the Big Four consultancy firms, over one quarter of the world’s largest law firms and in-house teams from leading organisations such as Colombian flagbearer airline, Avianca, and global confectionary company, Ferrero.
