Luminance Scoops Two Awards at Law.com International's Legal Innovation Awards

7 June 2023 |

07 June 2023 | Luminance, the pioneer in legal-grade AI, has been crowned winner in the ‘Excellence in Litigation & Data Science’ and ‘Outstanding Legal Operations’ categories at this year’s Law.com International Legal Innovation Awards.

Now in its ninth year, the Legal Innovation Award recognises innovation from private practice and in-house legal departments, as well as the legal tech players that are shaking up the industry. Having made history as the first use of AI at London’s highest criminal court, Luminance clinched the award for ‘Excellence in Litigation and Data Science’ after London Barristers’ chambers, The 36 Group, used Luminance’s next-generation AI to review over 10,000 documents ahead of the landmark murder trial, reducing the review by four weeks and saving £50,000 in the process.

Further, it was Luminance’s pioneering work with US-based biotechnology company, IDEXX Laboratories, that saw the company crowned winner of the ‘Outstanding Legal Operations’ award. Following the introduction of global sanctions in March 2022, IDEXX used Luminance’s AI to review 20,000 documents in just 20 minutes, identifying all geographies present within contracts and any language referencing Russian places or legal structures.

Eleanor Lightbody, CEO of Luminance, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the Luminance team and a true testament to the power of our technology and its impact on the entire legal industry: from in-house teams to solicitors, barristers and even the police force!
