VFS Global Adopts Luminance for AI-Powered Contract Analysis

18 March 2024 |

Luminance, the pioneer in ‘legal-grade’ AI, today announced that the world’s largest visa services specialist, VFS Global (“VFS”), has adopted its next-generation technology to automate the work of its legal department.

With over 3,000 application centres and operations in 149 countries, the in-house legal department at VFS negotiate and manage an enormous quantity of contracts. Having previously relied on a patchwork of technologies to help lessen the burden on the legal team, the company sought an end-to-end AI platform which could augment contracting processes across the business. VFS turned to Luminance’s next-generation AI for its ability to holistically expedite every stage of the contract lifecycle, from drafting and negotiation to post-execution analysis and workflow automation.

VFS will now benefit from significant time-savings by using Luminance to expedite routine contract reviews, such as Non-Disclosure Agreements and Service Agreements. Moreover, Luminance’s AI-powered contract repository is providing the organisation with granular insight into any contract type by automatically extracting over 1,000 key legal concepts, such as clauses, parties, dates, governing law, geographies, and anomalies. With all contractual data now centralised and at their fingertips, VFS’ legal and compliance teams can quickly respond to questions from internal and external stakeholders, proactively manage risk and stay aware of important deadlines and obligations.

“In a large organisation, negotiating and managing contracts manually can be extremely time- and resource-intensive. Luminance’s AI is a game-changer not only for our legal team, but for the business as a whole,” said Abdelrahman Sherif, Deputy General Counsel at VFS. “Looking ahead, I’m excited to extend Luminance’s capabilities to teams across the company, such as Finance and HR, empowering our employees so our lawyers can focus on value-added tasks which demand their skills. ”

Eleanor Lightbody, CEO of Luminance, added: “Luminance’s AI can streamline contract management processes for organisations of all sizes, centralising institutional knowledge and automating routine, low-value tasks which can otherwise take up so much of lawyers’ valuable time. I’m thrilled to see that our technology is helping VFS to run effectively and welcome them to the Luminance family!”
