Luminance, the pioneer of Legal-Grade™ AI for enterprise, today announced the opening of its first Australian office in Sydney, further strengthening its footprint across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The company has served APAC customers since 2017 and has an established regional office in Singapore.
The Sydney office marks the latest move in Luminance’s global expansion following its $75M Series C led by Point72 Private Investments. Over the past year, the company has opened offices in San Francisco, Dallas, Toronto, and Madrid to meet surging demand – driven in large part by its Corporate product, which has seen a 5x increase in customers and a 6x jump in ARR over the past two years.
Australia’s dynamic enterprise ecosystem and appetite for AI innovation – particularly across sectors like energy, mining, and retail – make it a natural next step. Luminance already supports leading organisations in the region, including KWM, Lander & Rogers, EY Australia, JLL Australia, Architectus, Gamuda and HSF Kramer.
More broadly, Luminance is trusted by over 700 customers in 70+ countries, including a quarter of the world’s largest law firms and major multinationals such as AMD, National Grid, LG Chem, and DHL.
“We take a thoughtful approach to global expansion, investing in regions where there’s strong traction and enthusiasm for our technology,” said Eleanor Lightbody, CEO at Luminance. “Australian companies have consistently been ahead of the curve as some of Luminance’s earliest adopters. Opening our Sydney office is a direct response to that demand, enabling us to better support and scale alongside it.”
Clementine Fox, appointed Australia General Manager, will lead the Sydney office and drive regional growth. A seasoned legal AI expert, she previously held roles including Partnership Development Lead at the Alan Turing Institute and Head of Account Management at Luminance, before stepping into the role of US General Manager. Her work in the sector has earned her recognition such as a Women World Award and a shortlist nomination for ‘Rising Star of the Year’ at the UK IT Industry Awards.
“We’ve seen such strong and sustained demand from Australian businesses that establishing a permanent presence became a necessity,” said Clementine Fox, Australia General Manager at Luminance. “Having an on-the-ground presence means we can move faster to support those eager to deploy our AI and bridge insights between Australia and global markets.”
Susannah Wilkinson, Global Director Generative AI for Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, shared: “We’ve used AI for more than a decade, gaining extensive experience deploying the technology throughout our global network. From analytical AI to Generative AI, we look forward to deepening our relationship with the Luminance team on the ground in Sydney, and exploring new ways to deliver exceptional client solutions.”
