BDK Advokati adopts Luminance’s artificial intelligence technology

27 July 2018 |

Leading Balkan law firm BDK Advokati has become the first law firm in the Serbian market to adopt Luminance’s AI technology to enhance its due diligence processes across a diverse spectrum of legal practices.

BDK Advokati, a full-service law firm with offices in Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina, selected Luminance after a thorough review of the marketplace and an initial demonstration of the technology. The firm was attracted to the time saving possibilities offered by Luminance’s unique anomaly detection capabilities. Not only will it be able to pinpoint unusual documents from day one, BDK Advokati will also benefit from unparalleled visibility into the whole data room. The law firm was particularly impressed with the power of the machine leaning technology, which will allow the addition of new concepts at the touch of a button.

Dragoljub Cibulić, Senior Partner at BDK Advokati, said: “What truly made Luminance stand out was that, as part of the normal workflow of our review, we can easily add new clause and document types, in Serbian and other languages. The system can then recognise and tag the new clause and document types in all future projects, saving us even more time going forward.”

“We are thrilled to welcome BDK Advokati as our first customer in the Serbian market” added Emily Foges, CEO of Luminance. “This latest addition to our growing list of global clients is testament of the flexibility of Luminance’s language agnostic technology, which is able to speed up the document review process in any language.”

Developed by mathematicians from the University of Cambridge, Luminance harnesses proprietary machine learning algorithms to read and understand legal documents in a similar way to humans, coping with volumes and working at speeds that no human can match. Trained by legal experts, Luminance can highlight anomalies within large groups of documents, allowing lawyers to prioritise their work.

Since launching in September 2016, Luminance has over 100 customers in 35 countries and six continents, including ten of The Global 100 law firms. The company was recently awarded ‘Best AI Start-Up’ at the prestigious AIconics awards held at Kensington Palace.
