Legal Geek 2021

4 October 2021 | Luminance

This week, Luminance is excited to be attending Legal Geek 2021 as the flagship event returns to London on the 5th and 6th October.

The event will see legal professionals and innovation experts come together for an exploration of the technologies and strategies that will drive the legal profession into the next decade and beyond. Luminance is delighted to be at the forefront of these conversations with two main-stage appearances alongside world-leading firms and Luminance customers, Dentons, Charles Russel Speechlys and Farfetch.

Day One: In Discussion with Luminance and Dentons

Join Luminance’s Commercial Director, Frederica Kitchen, on Tuesday at 2:40 p.m. BST on the Balloon Stage for an educational discussion with Joe Cohen, Practice Development & Innovation Manager at the world’s largest law firm, Dentons. Focusing on the benefits of an AI-powered legal team, Frederica and Joe will explain how Luminance’s AI is enhancing and expediting document review across geographies and practice areas for Dentons.

In their discussion, Frederica and Joe will be highlighting key instances of Luminance’s successful application to various legal cases across Dentons’ global offices, including the deployment of the Diligence platform to tackle an incredibly time-pressured TMT contract review and the use of the Discovery tool in the Middle East for large-scale arbitrations. Joe will also be sharing his perspective on the future of legal technology within law firms, explaining why ‘tech-sceptics’ risk being left behind if they refuse to adopt the latest innovations.

As one of Luminance’s long-standing customers, Dentons has first-hand experience of how Luminance’s pioneering AI platform provides lawyers with the most rapid and robust understanding of their data. The technology’s ability to be deployed out-of-the-box to read and understand any language before exposing areas of importance or risk, has been indispensable for Dentons’ global offices. Indeed, the firm recently announced that it would be expanding its global roll-out of Luminance, deploying the technology across its European, Middle Eastern and Malaysian offices.

Day Two: How Charles Russell Speechlys and Farfetch used Luminance’s AI to supercharge their pre-Brexit review

On Wednesday, Luminance’s CEO, Eleanor Weaver, will be joined by Jason Saiban, Partner at UK Top 50 law firm Charles Russell Speechlys, and Holly Dickson, Director of Legal at Farfetch, on the Disco Stage at 3:20 p.m. BST to discuss how the firm deployed Luminance to tackle a Brexit-related review for their client, fashion retailer Farfetch.

While it is often assumed that lawyers are those who are set to gain the most from using legal technology, it is important to remember that the ultimate beneficiary is always the client. Farfetch will provide a valuable client perspective, detailing how Luminance’s AI not only provided them with considerable cost savings, but also the confidence that the high-priority review was being completed comprehensively and securely.

With many businesses such as Farfetch now facing regulatory change in the light of Brexit, Luminance’s AI can automatically identify crucial information such as contract type, parties, governing law and clauses. assisting lawyers in gaining a rapid and complete understanding of their contractual landscape across a wide array of Brexit-related issues. Come join this day two discussion to learn how next-generation AI technology is an indispensable tool for lawyers and their clients conducting increasingly specialised legal reviews.
